Scholarships

Listed below are scholarship opportunities that the Counseling Office is made aware of.  There are many more scholarships out there – they just require some extra work to seek them out.  Students are encouraged to visit www.fastweb.com and bigfuture.collegeboard.org to research two of the largest, most reputable, and free online scholarship search engines.  Please do not ever pay a fee to apply for a scholarship.  The legitimate ones are completely free.

Zachary James Kroll Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in memory of Zach Kroll, a former student at Zeeland East.  It is open to Zeeland East seniors who have at least a 2.7 GPA, a record of involvement in the community through extra-curricular activities and serving others, and who plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college/university or vocational/technical school.

Community Choice Foundation Scholarship Open to graduating seniors in Michigan with at least a 3.0 GPA and a strong record of "giving big" to the community through volunteerism or public service.  Must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year Michigan college and desire to live and work in Michigan after college. michiganscholarship.com $5000 (20 given) 2/28/19
Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation Scholarships MANY local scholarships are available to Zeeland students through the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland area.

Zeeland Public Schools Continuing Education Scholarship Open to Zeeland seniors.  No minimum GPA required - potential for success is what is important.  Applicants msut be accepted into any post-high school continuing education program. Application $500  (up to 4 awards will be given) 3/18/19
Norma Sneller Performing Arts Scholarship This scholarship is given to 1-2 ZPS senior performing arts students in memory of Norma Sneller, a former ZPS employee Application $500 3/18/19
Holland Hospital RN Scholarship This scholarship is available to students who reside in Holland Hospital's service are and who are enrolled in a RN course of study. Application $7000 3/18/19
Consumers Credit Union Scholarship Applicants must be seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA and 23 ACT or 1150 SAT who are active members of Consumers Credit Union Application 20 winners will receive an iPad and $500 3/18/19
George and Lucile Heeringa Community Scholarship One ZE and one ZW senior will receive this scholarship.  Students will be evalulated based on community/school involvement, academic achievement, and the composition of an essay. Application $1000 3/22/19
Mary Jane Dockeray Scholarship Open to graduating seniors in Kent, Ottawa, or Muskegon counties who plan to pursue a career in science. Application $2500 3/29/19
Michigan Retailers Association Scholarship Open to seniors who work or have parents that work for a store that is a member of the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA). bit.ly/mrascholarships up to $1500 4/1/19
Ottawa County Bar Association Elise Joy Frantz Scholarship This award is presented to an outstanding HS senior with an interest in government and/or law-related activities

ZPS Summer Performing Arts Summer Study Scholarship Open to any ZPS student GRADES 6-11 currently enrolled in a performing arts course (and enrolled again next year).  Funds may be used to study in your art form or to defray the cost of private lessons.
