--The 7th grade boys soccer team battled not only the Hawkeyes of Hamilton, but the 80 plus degree heat yesterday afternoon. We came up short 1-5. Tyler Ragen scored our unassisted goal with some great individual effort! Player of the match goes to Charlie Reese for his outstanding play during the entire game. Come out and support your 7th and 8th grade teams on Monday the 23 when we face the Wildcats of Jenison.
--Yesterday afternoon the girls tennis team played their best tennis of the year but came up short against Grand Haven, 4-2.5. Scoring points for Zeeland were the doubles teams of Aubree Veltema and Olivia Grotenhuis, Natalie Velheer and Megan Thompson (winning an epic tie breaker 10-8), and Keeley Boerman and Lindsey Wichers. Congratulations on a great effort, girls!!
--The Chix kept their win streak alive yesterday with a sweep of the Holland 7th grade volleyball team. The team won in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, and 15-2. Stellar serving performances were recorded by Taryn Burgess, Mirra Fenlon, Macie Moore, Soraya Martinez, Paityn Burke, and Emme Meyering. Crisp passing from Isabelle Valenzuela and Arelly VanderMaas kept the ball in play, while Mirra Fenlon and Macie Moore finished off several points with decisive kills. The Chix take on the Mona Shores Sailors on Tuesday at home; come out and cheer them on!
--The first Art Club meeting for 6th and 7th graders will take place on Monday, September 30 and it will be a special one, as Mrs. Guffey will be working with us! We will create a flower arrangement in a painted jar for our project. A sample jar and flower arrangement is in the office if you would like to see what we will be working on. Please sign up in the office so that we can have enough supplies for the activity. There are 40 slots available, so the first 40 to sign up will be able to come. The meeting will run from 2:35 - 3: 30 pm.
