Cityside teacher Jessica Kiwiet hands a student a full jug of water from the stream.  After students carried the jugs and emptied them into the filter, they tossed the jugs into bags for recycling by a local waste handling company that provided the service free of charge.

Students walk away from the creek where they got water and begin the 1.5 mile trek back to Cityside.  Their destination was the parking lot east of Cityside, where volunteers had set up a working water filter similar to the type used in Third World countries.

Scott Parrott, right, explains to Cityside students how the Aqua Clara filter system works.  The foundation's system is low in cost, can be made with products available in Third World countries, and produces water that meets the cleanliness standards of the World Health Organization.
