Welcome to the Zeeland Board of Education for 2009-2010

Carol Slagh named president of Zeeland Board of Education

By unanimous vote, Carol Slagh was named president of the Zeeland Board of Education for 2009-2010. The vote came during the Board's organizational meeting for the new year July 20 in the central administration office conference room.

This will mark Slagh's second time in the president's chair, having served in that position during the 2004-05 school year. She served as vice president for three years: 2003-04, 2007-08, and 2008-09; and secretary for two years: 2005-06 and 2006-07.

Slagh was appointed to the Board in February 2001 to fill a vacancy. She was elected by the general public in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007.

Here is the remaining slate of office holders for the new school year:

Tom Den Herder, vice president
Marc Clevenger, secretary
Rick Dernberger, treasurer.

Trustee Ron Scott was named to chair the Board’s curriculum and personnel committee. Other members include Linda Bush and Dave Lutz.
Tom Den Herder will chair the Board’s finance and building and grounds committee. Joining him will be Marc Clevenger and Rick Dernberger.

All regular business meetings of the Zeeland Board of Education provide time for you to address the group with your remarks.This occurs at the start of each meeting during "acknowledgment of visitors." Each person is allowed five minutes to give comment. We encourage to you contact the superintendent's office ahead of time if you plan to speak to the board. This ensures that you are recognized at the start of the meeting.
