All-Day Every-Day Kindergarten Begins in the Fall of 2012

Program Overview

Current research in early childhood supports the benefits of all-day every-day kindergarten. Over the past 30 years, enrollment in all-day every-day kindergarten has steadily risen. Today 60% of our nation’s children are enrolled in all-day every-day kindergarten.

All-day every-day kindergarten provides children the time to linger over learning and acquire a deeper understanding of concepts and their link to the world around them. Additionally, this will provide more time to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of children. Zeeland Public Schools all-day every-day kindergarten includes activities such as:

• Creative arts
• Music
• Dramatic play
• Math
• Language Arts and Spanish
• Computers
• Science
• Field trips
• Gross and fine motor skill development
• Interpersonal and relationship skill development

Additional Information

The all-day every-day kindergarten program meets all staff and licensing requirements. Parents may also register their child for the Zeeland Public School District Child Care Program called Z-Kids which provides child care before and after school, 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Admission

Any child within the Zeeland Public Schools who is eligible to attend kindergarten will enroll in our all-day every-day kindergarten Program. Zeeland Public Schools non-residents may apply by completing a Schools of Choice application, which are available at each school or online.
