Zeeland teachers share their knowledge in Haiti

A team of 19 Americans—including Zeeland teachers, staff, students, and graduates—spent quality time sharing educational ideas with 85 of their counterparts in Haiti this summer.  The "Teacher Summit" was organized by New Groningen Principal Laurie Poll in cooperation with GLOW Ministries.  The whirlwind trip was an eye opener for our teachers and was paid for with private funding.  Zeeland teachers attending included Mary Elhart, Mark Gronevelt, Ralph Neal and Poll. Cityside administrative assistant Jill Bouwman attended as did ZEHS graduates Drew Coffin and Gregg Elhart and current ZEHS students Nate Poll and Noah Snyder.

Zeeland earns all "A's" from the state

Zeeland earned all "A's" from the state for the second straight year. And, our schools made adequate yearly progress (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind program.  Statewide results on school performance were released August 4.  For complete details, click HERE.  The state chart below lists our results. There is no grade for  the Early Childhood Center because kindergartners are not tested. Summit School does not have a grade from the state because its enrollment is too small to qualify for measurement.

Paving work restricts use of high school drives and lots

Pavement work gets underway June 23 on the parking lots and drives at Zeeland West High School and will continue through July 30.  The repaving project will also restrict use of the connecting drive between the two high schools.  There will always be access to the schools throughout the project. However, you will need to follow the signs and park accordingly. The best way to reach Zeeland West High School will be to enter the campus via 100th Avenue.  Download a map of the construction and driving routes HEREBelow is the schedule:
