Citizens living in the Zeeland Public School district will vote November 5 on two ballot proposals. A new state law requires Michigan school districts to schedule their elections in November along with state and national issues. On the ballot for ZPS are these two items:
- A renewal of the district’s 1-mill building and site levy
- A renewal of the 18-mill nonhomestead tax.
Starting in 2014, these November elections for schools will take place every two years.
Here, Superintendent Cal De Kuiper explains the two proposals. To vote, go to
the polls you normally attend in your city or township when voting in a national election. Polls are open November 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you have questions, contact Zeeland Public Schools at 616-748-3003 or go to www.zps.org.
